Milk Poetry - We're All Fools Here at The Wardrobe Theatre

A event held at The Wardrobe Theatre on Monday 1st April. The event starts at 19:30.

This April Fools join us for an evening of poetry about fooling, jokesters and the schemes we weave to keep life exciting, featuring Milk Poetry favourites Laurie Bolger, Edward Tripp & Jo Eades.

Have you ever been made a fool of? Or have you made a fool of someone else? What’s the best prank you ever played? Are there any greater tricksters in the world than poets?

Laurie Bolger is a London based writer and the founder of The Creative Writing Breakfast Club. Laurie’s work has been widely anthologised and has featured at Glastonbury, TATE and Sky Arts. Laurie’s first publication Box Rooms celebrated community and her W10 roots.

This year Laurie was the winner of The Moth Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for The Sylvia Plath, Bridport and Forward Poetry Prize. Her latest books include Makeover and Spin celebrating the resilience of working class women, autonomy and love.

Edward Tripp is a slam-winning Northern Irish poet, comedian and visual artist, currently based in Devon. Edward’s genre-bending poetry mixes surreal comedy and occasional theatrical effects with frequently unhinged performances.
Once described as Dave Allen meets David Lynch, Edward has brought his unique brand of spoken-word comedy to nights and festivals across the country, has supported poets like Hollie McNish and Rob Auton and was appointed ‘Bard of Exeter’ in 2022.

We’ll also be running a Fools Special Slam – get in touch to get involved!
