Bristol vs Clevedon vs Exeter vs Weston! It’s a poetry showdown like no other!

Join us at The Wardrobe Theatre for an energetic evening of impressive wordsmithery and good-spirited competitiveness. Slammers from each of the teams will take to the stage to battle it out in the hopes of impressing the audience and winning the title of South West Showdown Champions!

Team Weston: Jemma Hathaway, Malcolm Rodgers, Tasha Mapes
Team Clevedon: Steve Selby, Colin Dick, Isabel White
Team Exeter: Edward Tripp, Ceri Baker, Shaday Barrowes-Bayewunmi
Team Bristol: TBA

The team representing Exeter & Spork! Poetry consists of Edward Tripp, Ceri Baker & Shaday Barrowes-Bayewunmi. Each of Team Spork! has won a slam in Exeter in the last couple of years and featured multiple times at Spork! events. Ed is a surreal stand-up poet, Ceri Baker is the current "Bard of Exeter," and Shaday is a writer and performer who recently moved from Devon to Bristol (but we don't think any less of her, promise!)

Headliner: JAIDAH

Jaidah was a member of last year’s winning Weston team and has gone on to win even more poetry titles since including Clevedon Lit Fests' Life’s a Beach slam and the ninth Rhyme Against the Tide in Weston.

Jaidah's poetry is captivatingly heartfelt with an emphasis on human welfare & connection throughout her clever wordplay.

She was also amongst the poets selected to take part in this years’ Future Voices film and poetry project with Apples and Snakes.

Presented in collaboration with Rhyme Against the Tide.
