A
event
held at The Wardrobe Theatre
on Sunday 20th February. The event starts at 14:00.
In honour of LGBT+ History Month, and the 19th anniversary of Section 28 being repealed, Story Slam is hosting a special event welcoming stories from the LGBT+ community, and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the LGBT charity Stonewall, supporting gay, lesbian, trans and queer people across the UK and internationally.
This month we especially welcome stories from the LGBT+ community.
And our theme this month is Queer. Queer is a word with a long and painful history. Originally meaning strange or peculiar, the term was weaponised against the LGBT+ community in the 19th century. But it has since been well and truly reclaimed by the community it was once designed to attack.
Queerness today is radical, revolutionary and powerful. Huge numbers of people and communities across the globe identify as queer and we want to hear your stories about queerness. Stories about identity, community, and independence. Stories of battles, fights and protests. Stories about lovers, haters and stilettos. Kissing, fucking and throwing rocks. Relationships, family and friends. Transness, otherness and binaries. Protests, oppression and police. Racism, homophobia, and bigotry. Reclamation, gender euphoria and love. And stories about sweetness, tenderness and vulnerability
We want to hear about you, your love and your grief. Have a story to tell? Come join us 20th February 2022 and share.

SAFER SPACES
*********
We work hard at Story Slam to try and create a place where people feel safe and comfortable to share stories. We're continually trying to make our events better places to be, and our aim is to hear stories that we don’t get to hear anywhere else. We want to make Story Slam better than the world around it. So to help us achieve this, we have our own safer spaces policy. http://www.storyslam.co.uk/safer-spaces/
