Mr Joseph
Although Mr Joseph has been involved in the music scene since early 1990 organising raves and parties throughout the London area it wasn't until 2000 he decided to take things a little more seriously with Drum & Bass. Coming from a Caribbean background, Joseph was all to familiar with the many musical genres resonating throughout his parents home. His father and uncles were both in sound systems back in the 70s which meant he had unprecedented access to Jazz, Soul, Funk and Reggae. Growing up around sound systems Joseph refined he talents behind the decks from the age of 8. and living in North West London was a bonus due to the number of record shops dotted throughout the area.
In 2005 Joseph, along with Deefa MC, Cliche MC, DJ Izzy and DJ Caspar started a weekly Drum & Bass night called Fizzy. With the success of Fizzy came the label and during its birth saw the start of Mr Josephs production career. His first release on Fizzy Beats entitled'Sexy Lady', was followed by'So High', got massive support from DJ's such as Bailey, Fabio and Grooverider, Marcus Intalex and LTJ Bukem. Mr Joseph's tracks got signed to Good Looking, V Records, Totaal Rez and Influence Records. 2009 saw Mr Joseph win the Sun and Bass DJ competition in Sardinia, Italy, and he also appeared several times on Drum and Bass Arena TV. Early 2011 Mr Joseph's first album, 'What a Lovely Time It Was', was debuted with Telluric Records. In the same month, an EP on the legendary V Records was released, letting Mr Joseph make his way onto the center stage. The V records EP entitled'Danger Room' Showcases Mr Joseph's versatility. With 5 tracks covering the full spectrum of drum and bass catering for everyone.
2012 saw the collaboration with artists such as Andyskopes, Pennygiles and Imagery, the realises of The Juices Volume 1 and 2 which topped the Juno Record chart for 2 weeks. it also saw Mr Joseph touch down in countries such as Belfast, Munich, New York, Sardinia, Estonia, Turin and Finland. Mr Joseph mission is to bring the vibes. His musically influenced by Soul, hip-hop Jazz and reggae music. 'A party ain't fizzy unless its bubbling down nicely.. '
Paul T's involvement in the electronic music scene began during 1990 at a time when the UK club and rave scene was at it's prime. He regularly attended clubs. Seduction, Orange & Reincarnation to name few, and this led to his developing interest in DJ'ing. Then in 1993, he started DJ'ing with the Conflict agency, and it was around this period that he collaborated on productions with JD Cruz and Rachele Wallace of Suburban Bass Records. His ongoing interest in production also led to working with drum and bass producer, Adam F.
With the aim of extending his musical knowledge, Paul T went back to his instrumental roots and started to play the piano again. This helped in developing his music writing skills and also led to teaching himself to play the bass guitar. It was during this time that he performed regularly with various bands around London. His extensive experience in the band scene allowed him to delve into styles that ranged from trip hop, to dub to experimental.
His most recent signings are to Dispatch, Good Looking Records, Vampire Records, Phuzion Records and Spearhead Records.
Djs lending support to his sound are..Fabio,Dbridge,Survival,Sabre,Ltj Bukem,Randall,Lynx,Eveson,Phil Scource,Bailey and many more...
He has traveled to Singapore,Malaysia,Spain,Germany,Holland,Slovakia,Poland djing and performing.
It's a case of watch this space with Paul T; DJ, Producer and performer who is clearly making waves in the scene...
Pennygiles (Taken from DNBA's article'Who's going to smash it in 2013)
Welsh vibe maestro Pennygiles achieved some beautiful musical moments last year thanks to the sharp A&R ears of Demand, Rubik, Influenza, SP Breakz and Inform. With a hyper-sensitive nose for great samples and a killer sense of groove, his deep, soul-touched sounds fit myriad DJ styles in the same spirit conjured by the likes of luminaries Marcus Intalex and Calibre. Not that Pennygiles would ever let this get to his head. To him, his eager passion for progress is merely'enough to stop him being lazy and productive. '
'I think 2012 was a really fast paced year full of ups and downs, ' he continues, more earnestly. 'If it's left me with any changes going into 2013 is that sticking to your guns, staying humble and enjoying what you're doing are the keys to a good year in drum & bass. I'm really looking forward to what 2013 has to bring and also trying to step my production game up more each month. '
With a Mr Joseph co-lab on Liquid V, a remix of Random Movement on Inform and a 12' for Alignment all locked and loaded for the first part of 2013, his game is clearly upped.
