A event on Sunday 4th August. The event starts at 14:00.

This workshop is part an 8 month workshop series to learn about local wild food, medicine and crafts. We'll practice ethical foraging as an act of resistance. Check out the other workshops in the series: https://hdfst.uk/creative-foraging

Each session will include a guided foraging walk and an introduction to a range of craft and wild medicine making skills that you can build on throughout the year, leaving each session with knowledge to share with others.

In this August session, we'll ask: how can we expand our 'uses' of medicinal plants? The incredible nettle seeds will be our focus; the whole plant is an underrated ally for so many of our human needs (and joys). A relative of hemp, it mirrors the robustness for building, clothing, plant dyeing and is an abundant source of omega oils, serotonin and a whole range of nutrients. We’ll delve in, process the fibres and make our own cordage, then share in some nourishing nettle snacks.

ROUGH TIMINGS:
2pm - foraging: getting to know nettles and their neighbours
4pm - infusing nourishing oils with wild plants, learning how to blend them into balms and share them
5pm - leave, spread this knowledge elsewhere

Meeting point: Victoria Park, entrance by the end of Nutgrove Av, BS3 4LL
Access: we'll walk along well trodden paths, occasionally stepping off to find the plants in the hedges, get in touch if you have any access needs so we can adjust for you
Bursaries: for this series we have bursaries available, as well as discounts for booking onto 4. 6 and 8 workshops

Entry requirements: no age restrictions
