Join local poets paz (they/them) and shakara (they/she) from Sonder Spoken Word, for a workshop queering AI. We will be guiding you through how to craft poetry in collaboration with ChatGPT, the possibilities of approaching AI through a queer lens, and hosting a juicy discussion about wider ethical questions for writers and artists. Whether you're a seasoned poet, a curious beginner or a consciousness uploaded onto a toaster, this workshop welcomes you to play, get curious and question the beep beep boop beep.

Online Zoom tickets are also available, limited to 4 per workshop. Please book a ‘Online Zoom participant ticket’ at checkout.

Sonder Spoken Word is a grassroots, bristol-based poetry event/workshop collective centralising marginalised artists. @sonderspokenword @_shak.ara @valentinapazhux

shakara, a Jamaican-born artist, embodies a fusion of technology and creativity, weaving together poetry, spoken word, and filmmaking with AI. Their journey began amid BLM and Kill the Bill protests, igniting a passion for amplifying marginalised voices. With a profound intention to empower and heal, shakara courageously explores themes of identity, spirituality, and heritage, drawing inspiration from luminaries like Audre Lorde and Miss Lou. They seamlessly blend their academic background with their creative practice, incorporating coding and AI-inspired creations. shakara is intrigued by AI's potential to uplift global majority voices and is dedicated to centering the narratives of black queer women. Eager to be part of Lyra Fest, they seek to celebrate the power of spoken word while exploring the intersection of art and technology, paving the way for technologies rooted in human-based ethics.

Paz (they/them) is a british/chilean artist based in Bristol. Specialising in vibrant illustration and poetry, they explore themes like intergenerational healing, South American folklore, addiction, queer ecology and the absurdity of human-ing. They also run Sonder Spoken Word - a poetry event/workshop collective whose main principles are to centralise marginalised artists and to share the galvanising power of words.
