“Bristol Based Impermanence present their first short-feature film. The film was inspired by the pacifist satire, The Ballet of the Nations, written by Vernon Lee in 1915 and illustrated by Maxwell Armfield as a response to the outbreak of war. Impermanence’s film incorporates original dialogue inspired by Lee’s text, among intricate and stylised dance pieces, with production design by Pam Tait, an original soundtrack by composer Robert Bentall, cinematography by Jack Offord and a directorial debut from Roseanna Anderson and Joshua Bentovim.”

“Noted for their hypnotic melodies, visceral bass-lines and tidal rhythm, Manchester-based leftfield piano trio GoGo Penguin are pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Rob Turner. Their music has been described as acoustic-electronica but they draw equally on rock, jazz and minimalism, game soundtracks and glitchy-electronica to create their unique music.”

“Maria Chavez has quickly become a key figure in the global Sound Art and Experimental Music scene, following in a tradition of vinyl and turntable manipulation that includes artists such as Christian Marclay and Otomo Yoshihide. Yet in spite of its long and distinguished history Chavez has carved a unique and personal approach to the combination of platter, needle and groove, a set of techniques documented in her 2012 instruction book of Chance Procedures on Turntable.”

“Anne Hardy uses sculptural installation, audio, film and photography to create sensory landscapes. Inspired by materials she finds near her East London studio, she ‘wants to give visitors the feeling that they are entering a dream-like world in which objects appear to lead lives of their own’ (Nina Folkersma, 2018)”
