“Barbara Hammer is a legend and pioneer of things queer and experimental, yet her films are barely accessible. Hammer died in March this year and this screening of her best known work Nitrate Kisses on 16mm projection will be an ode, a celebration, and an opportunity to unite as a community, sharing thoughts, ideas, and issues. This event promotes queer visibility and confronts film history's tendency to exclude the marginalised.”

“Pianist Horace Silver was one of the true jazz greats, and composed a huge number of memorable tunes across a performing career which started in the early 1950s and was to last for over fifty years. A pioneer of the hard-bop style and co-founder of the Jazz Messengers, his style developed to include blues, gospel and funk influences. Trumpeter Andy Hague has been leading this tribute to Silver for more than a decade, but the band’s repertoire continues to expand and develop with a wealth of material to choose from by the prolific and brilliant composer. Always at their rip-roaring best they only play at Fringe Jazz once a year so make sure you don't miss tonight's gig.”

“This bunch from the Basque country do exactly what it says on the can: think an above average white band with layers of tight saxophones, rolling sousaphone bass and an absolute commitment to the groove. It’s an 8-strong rhythm machine that you will so want to dance for.”
