Viridian Ensemble + Steve Watson / Pete Bennet at The White Rabbit
See event details

A gig held at The White Rabbit on Friday 28th June. The event starts at 20:00.

The White Rabbit Bristol present a free entry, audiovisual show from Viridian Ensemble, plus an improvised performance from Steve Watson and Pete Bennet.

Viridian Ensemble
(Noise, free improv, feminist avant garde)
Viridian are an ethereal blend of image, voice, cello and double bass which re-imagines folkloric forms and tropes of femininity.

Improvisation of both sound and image (digital & analogue) produce a dialogic blend of textural depths. Dissociative states, keening, and the supernatural inspirit the ensemble; each performance evokes utterances, nonsensical languages, and trans species forms of communication through collective rhythm, tone and resonance.

The ensemble plays with improvisational visuals as the score. For radio broadcasts we have performed live experimental improvisation sets.

Steve Watson + Pete Bennett
(modular, improv, ambient)
Modular synth and guitar weave together in improvised textures, ranging from from the light and ethereal through to knotty arpeggiations, with face melting freak outs always just around the corner.

The duo formed recently in order to explore the unusual sound of the electric pineapple. Pete is usually found playing an assortment of electronics and synth in DSC / Sound Cupboard. Steve tends to pop up with his guitar in unexpected places, mole like, grasping for the musical light.
