A
event
on Saturday 8th November. The event starts at 10:45.
Take in the resonant sound of Tibetan singing bowls with local holistic sound therapist and artist Amber Bardell. This is your invitation to just be, letting the sounds wash over you. Amber will guide you with a spoken meditation and then create an immersive soundscape with the amazing instruments to help you repair and restore.
Each session is different, and the bowls create a wide variety of sounds that vibrate through the room. A lot of people find they can access a flow state or theta state where they are in a sound bath, this is a deeply meditative and relaxed state of consciousness similar to when the body repairs during sleep. Sound baths can also help improve sleep quality, reduce stress, increase creativity and support general wellbeing.
What to expect from the session:
Please arrive 5mins early or on time if you can, so we can get the most of our session (if you arrive before this we’ll probably still be setting up!). We’ll begin with optional oracle cards which we can draw to set an intention as we settle in. Amber will open the session with a guided meditation which leads into a soundscape using singing bowls and chimes, this fills the main duration of the session. Amber will usually be situated in one place but may move around with the bowls to give everyone a more immersive experience. We will end with time to transition into the rest of our day gently. This is a small intimate event with usually 5-20 participants.
Usually we lie on yoga mats on the floor, finding a restful position, but you are welcome to do whatever is more accessible for you. Sitting, or moving around is also welcome. Please get in touch if you are in need of any assistance.
Equipment:
All the usual yoga studio mats, props and blankets are provided but please feel welcome to bring anything that will help you feel more comfortable. Dress cosy and wear warm socks as your body temperature can really drop from being still during the session.
Health concerns:
Generally it's really safe and non-invasive to attend a sound bath, but in certain circumstances, sound healing can cause contraindications. Please don't attend if you are in the first or third trimester of pregnancy, have sound related epilepsy, current major wounds, or metallic implants in your body. In the case of pacemakers, small metallic implants, blood clots, and other major health concerns we would avoid placing the bowls on/or near the area in a 1-1 session, and you will need to consult a doctor prior to attending a session. If you have any concerns that the vibrations could cause something to dislodge or exacerbate an existing injury, please consult your doctor and also notify your sound therapist.
You attend at your own discretion and always have the option to leave if you find the sound to be uncomfortable or causing pain.
Sound baths can be beautifully healing and help us release emotionally. Each session is different so sometimes you may experience a deep sense of calm, or moving through something more challenging. The session is held gently and you will have time to integrate and transition gently into the rest of your day.
