A event on Wednesday 27th May. The event starts at 19:00.
Originally (1922) entitled 'The Narrow Bridge' (following Rabbi Nachman of Breslau's dictum: “Know that a person has to cross a very narrow bridge in this world. And the main thing is that he shouldn't fear."), director Esther Takac approached four families bereaved in the ongoing wars in Palestine/Israel who had reached out to those 'on the other side'. She explored their journey together in shared loss, forgiveness, trust and hope.
Now, in 'The Very Narrow Bridge' (2024) Esther has revisited and extended the reach of the original documentary, reflecting the ongoing wars and violence - but also the growth of a greater resistance movement, based on the experiences of those whose losses are the greatest and whose guidance suggests a Very Narrow Bridge to peace.
Both the original and extended movie have garnered numerous awards and commendations at many international screenings. Leonard Cohen wrote of 'The Narrow Bridge' .." a radical, unique and holy response to human suffering.."
This will be the first Bristol screening, as far as we know. Doors will open at 6.00pm for 7.00pm screening. Refreshments will be provided. All being well, we hope to have a Q and A with Esther following the film, which lasts around 55 minutes.
We are grateful to Wildgoose Studios for hosting this showing. All revenues will go directly to Esther Takac to cover her production costs, and to Bristol Friends of Standing Together to support Standing Together's work in Palestine/Israel/Gaza. Please give generously.
