Body Research: Healthy Hips at Willow Studio, St Werburghs Primary School, BS2 9US

A event on Sunday 28th January. The event starts at 11:00.

A workshop for dancers and movers to explore habitual patterns and discover new pathways and possibilities
Claire Coveney and Itta Howie will draw on their backgrounds in The Alexander Technique, Pilates, experiential anatomy and dance to stimulate creative and insightful explorations into the functioning of the hips.

Join us and you’ll:
- Gain an embodied understanding of the anatomy and relationship of the hip joints, pelvis and spine,
- Learn to identify movement patterns and recognise beliefs that could be creating unhealthy strain on the body,
- Discover new pathways and invite new ways of thinking to increase ease and flow of movement,
- Journey from micro-movements in the joints to whole body integration,
- Explore your findings in dance improvisations and have plenty of fun along the way.
This workshop is open to adults of all ages and anyone who loves to move and dance. We aim to provide an inclusive environment for all bodies. If you have any specific requirements, please let us know when making a booking.

Itta has been working with people through movement since 2004. As a community dance leader, she worked creatively with people of various ages, abilities and backgrounds. Her personal experience of injury and recovery inspired her to study Pilates, and in 2014 she qualified as a mat work Pilates teacher (500+hrs) at the renowned Scott Studio in Somerset.
Itta teaches a creative blend of Pilates and integrated movement to both groups and individuals, helping people to move with ease, joy and confidence. To advance her knowledge, she follows the work of integral anatomy experts such as Madeline Black, Tom Myers (Anatomy Trains) and Gil Hedley.
As a movement practitioner and performer Itta enjoys an improvisational approach to dance and draws on somatics, authentic movement and release-based contemporary dance. She also has a background in art and design, and currently explores working across art forms, combining moving, making and drawing.
