An event on Thursday 12th November. The event starts at 19:15.
Join us at Willway Yard as we host Naomi, Hannah, Emily and Jasmin - four voices brought together through shared experiences of grief. Reading excerpts from their work in 'Grief Is A Feeling', we will host a discussion around the complexity of grief, a multi-layered emotion that connects us all.
Grief is a feeling captures the complexity of grief by bringing together 24 different voices. There will be an opportunity to purchase the book at the event.
Our contributors are:
Naomi is a disabled actor and writer, working across stage and screen. She first performed her poetry on the Copenhagen poetry scene whilst working out there, then moved to London nine years ago. She has written two award-winning short films, and this is her first published poetry.
Hannah is an actor, writer and director from the West Country. She trained at The Oxford School of Drama and with Philippe Gaulier, and has a background in improvised and stand up comedy, although these particular poems are not very funny.
Emily works as a videographer and editor, as well as in retail, after graduating from the University of the West of England with a filmmaking degree in 2022. She now lives with her best friend, and has a wonderful friend group and work life. She lost her mum, Joanna, at age 13, which she decided early on would not define her. With the help of a great therapist and a loving supportive family, the connection to her mum’s memory has never been stronger. Grief has been at the focal point of many creative endeavours over the years, but this is the first time Emily’s work will be published.
Jasmin is a writer, publisher, producer and behind all things Normal Girl!
Very Small Bookshop is a queer owned independent bookshop, housed in a 20 square foot shipping container, based at Willway Yard, in Bedminster. This event will be held in the large gallery space behind the shop. The event will be seated and is accessible for wheelchair users with access to disabled toilets. There will be a bar at the event to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.
