See event details

A gig on Sunday 24th June. The event starts at 14:30.

Sharing the stage alternately throughout the afternoon, enjoy song and entertainment from the renowned Bristol Male Voice Choir and our own local 'boy band’ The Frampton Shantymen. Music from spirituals and folk songs to modern musicals and sea-shanties, in the unusual and informal setting of the magnificent medieval barn.

Bristol Male Voice Choir began in 1968 as a small group of singing friends in the Filton Community Association, many of whom worked at British Aerospace and Rolls Royce. Over the next 50 years the group has grown and developed a wide-ranging repertoire. They have performed in varied concert halls, churches, and private functions from Bristol to Europe to New York. They sing traditional male voice favourites, songs from the shows, pop classics, spirituals and classical items, under the guidance of their Musical Director Jo Scullin and accompanist Elaine Smith.

The Frampton Shantymen started a few years ago with a handful of members of the Frampton Male Voice Choir who enjoyed a good post-rehearsal sing-song in the pub. They soon found a taste for sea shanties as well as beer, and discovered that local folk enjoyed listening and singing along too. They have sung in halls, churches, onboard ships, on radio, and at festivals, raising money for various charities.

Gates open 1pm for those who wish to to enjoy a midsummer picnic in the grounds beforehand.
Tickets £10 (children £5) from Daisy’s Coffee Shop, Winterbourne, or online from Ticketsource https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/HIJMFL (or on the gate if there are any left).
