Wiper and True Presents: Stevie Toddler, Cori Nora We're back with another live show in our stunning Old Market Taproom. Come, soak up the vibes, and enjoy Beautiful Beer and live music from Bristol based bassist, singer and songwriter, Stevie Toddler. Support comes from alt-folk ambient four piece ÂELLIN. Stevie Toddler: Maintaining an alt-pop sensibility, Stevie's material blends influences from the various musical worlds she's occupied. Having learnt classical double bass from age seven, and playing in orchestras as a child, it was in her teens that Stevie seriously felt music as a calling – when she picked up a bass guitar and got into Radiohead and Pixies (not least Kim Deal’s bass playing and nonchalant vocal style on the ‘Doolittle’ album). It was also around this time that she began studying jazz and attended the royal academy of music's junior jazz programme. ÂELLIN: ÂELLIN is the alt-folk-ambient song writing project fronted by writer, multi- instrumentalist and lyricist Siân Magill. Moving away from traditional song writing structures and fusing acoustic instrumentation with synthetic sound design, the project seeks to unpick real-world emotive and visceral experience. Working with literary reference and intertextuality, the songs explore collective concepts of narrative, memory, unconscious experience and the diffusion of linearity. The audio-world, curated by Âellin’s four-piece, meanders through a diversity of genres, working with a rich canvas of textural elements including folk guitar, jazz guitar, percussive sound design & beat-driven rhythms, cello, violin, double bass, warming sub-bass, augmented vocal textures and granular synthesis. Doors: 7:30pm Gig starts: 8pm Curfew: 12am Age Restriction: 18+ £7 RSVP tickets available (includes first drink and guaranteed entry), otherwise this is a FREE event.
