A
gig
on Sunday 10th August. The event starts at 19:00.
Kai Carter’s Old Time Duo - Old Time Appalachian tunes from Bristol folk session pals. Playing traditional material from across the great American songbook. Expect hypnotic syncopated picking, janky rhythms and stomping tunes. Tastefully building on the foundation of old time music with the influence of ragtime, jazz and Americana.
Although the band is fresh, the lineup (sometimes a duo, often a trio) is a cross section of Bristol's finest from the folk and trad jazz music scene. All have been gigging relentlessly and touring the world for 10+ years. Now fronting the band banjo as well as guitar Kai is taking the lead on this project and applying the technical skills learnt from other touring bands to deliver a unique and accomplished performance.
They have just toured Scotland and are playing a selection of festival gigs such as Fire in the Mountain, Kelburn, Fanny’s Meadow, The Green Scythe Fair and more.
DOCA Street festival in Devizes:
“Kai Carter’s Old Time Trio made for an amazing kick off. Beguiling guitar, fiddle, foot-stomping magic moments as suggested on the tin, finding time for some facts about pigeons and to delightfully deliver long lost covers, particularly those of Virginia’s country legend Patsy Cline. They made tradition look cool, very cool.”
