Avast ye! The Treasure Your River campaign is recruiting local pirates to join them in the battle against litter in our river systems…
Join fellow comrades in celebration of Talk Like A Pirate Day, as local organisations supporting the campaign are set to host a number of events and activities in Bristol, to raise awareness of marine litter and offer pirates in the city the opportunity to get involved in litter clearing interventions.
With a number of events taking place, there’s something for sea dogs, old salts, scallywags, rapscallions, jack tars and even landlubbers, including:
• Plastic Fishing trips offered to public throughout the day from 11am - 4pm.
• Plastic Fishing boat trips with a live mermaid and marine biologist on board - 2 - 3.30pm.
• Live Mermaid book reading for kids on board the boat / on the Young Bristol Jetty - 3 - 3.20pm.
• Pirate Trading Post – with pirate actor, litter picks ready to engage the public with 2 minute litter picks.
• Litter art creation station
All events are being held on Sunday 19th September at Young Bristol Pooles Wharf Activity Centre. Register interest here, or just turn up on the day.
