A
gig
held at Zed Alley
on Saturday 15th April. The event starts at 19:30.
I have chosen to organise this event to raise awareness about MND because it has affected my family.
My uncle was diagnosed with the disease a few years ago and has progressively gotten more ill as the years have gone on. Mark is a brilliant man, he has a warm presence and a wicked sense of humour, whenever he's around everyone feels welcomed by him. This disease has taken away so much from him, but his humour and faith have remained strong throughout.
He lives in Australia with his partner who has been looking after him over the past couple of years and has become an integral part of my family. She has shown incredible strength and I'm so grateful that she's been there for him. She recommended MND and Me for this event because they have provided her with emotional and practical support throughout, and that is why your money will go to them.
All ticket money goes to the charity. The raffle ticket is for a chance to shave a portion of Angel's head and to raise more money for the charity.
What is MND?
Motor Neurone Disease is the name used to describe a group of diseases in which the nerve cells (neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that control the way we walk, talk, eat, swallow, and breathe progressively die.
Who are MND and Me?
The MND and Me Foundation is an Australian not for profit organisation, formed by Scott Sullivan, a husband and father of two children who sadly died from MND in 2014. He set up the charity to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and its impact in the community.
They make significant financial contributions towards research into finding a cure for MND. In addition to raising funds to ensure a cure for MND is realised, the Foundation remains committed to improving the lives of those impacted by Motor Neurone Disease.
