ELVIRAS - XXV at Zed Alley
See event details

A clubnight held at Zed Alley on Saturday 18th May. The event starts at 21:00.

25 years ago a very strange thing happened. Picture it College Green on a Sunny April day, myself and Jessica Phoenix sat down having a chat about how there was nothing really (at the time) that catered for the goth/industrial crowd in the way of club nights.
A Plan way hatched to utilise the under used upstairs room at the Hatchet and run an experimerntal night just to see if it worked.
At this time there was no internet to speak of and pubs shut at 11pm, so flyers were printed and handed out at gigs running up to the event and baking was done on the day so we would provide food and therefore stay open til midnight.
The hatchet at that time was not used regularly and had none of its own equipment (apart from the lighting rig that must have been there since the pub was built!) so all this had to be sourced and ferried to the venue in taxi's (i can still put together a basic PA system!) to enable us to make noise!
Tickets were sold through Elrics in Clifton and we sold out of all 100 tickets the day before we opened, it was a total success, more dates were booked and the night was bursting to the rafters.
The autumn saw us move to a bigger venue, The Full Moon in Stokes Croft, and Jessica left to start her new life, studying at the prestigious Oxford Uni, luckily Liz Prescott came on board to co-run the monster that had become Elviras.
Over the next 4 years we continued to play a mad mix of Goth Industrial and 80's along with other assorted mad music to create a thriving and bustling Bristol Scene which, along with SubSpecies and Digi:Tec, kept the lucky Bristol punters busy at least 3 out of 4 weekends every month.
We also promoted several bands on the stage at the full moon and brought The Marionettes, Narcissus Pool, Sneaky Bat Machine, Passion Play, Cauda Pavonis, Caffeine Kill and Ultraviolence to name but a few.
We also ran at a number of different venues apart from the Hatchet and Full Moon, including Inferno/Powerhouse, The Eclipse, Easton Community Centre and Koda (im sure ive forgotten a few, it was a long time ago!)

To celebrate the 25th anniversary im very proud to say 4 of the original DJs will be coming together for 1 night only at Zed Alley to remember the good times and play you some old classics, so other than myself and my partner in crime Missy Malice i am also very honoured to welcome back the powerhouse that is Lee Chaos and the electronic mastery of Alistair Power.

Tickets will be strictly limited to 100 only and priced at the original price of £2 from https://hdfst.uk/e107583

Come its time to party like its 1999.....again!

Here is a little mix to get you in the mood!
