A gig held at Zed Alley on Wednesday 20th May. The event starts at 20:15.
With music from Mortimer, The Effectives, Macready, Ides of March, and an exciting act from members of our 'Take Care' cast, Out of Hours promises to get you shifting your feet!
Late Shift Theatre was founded by 2 University of Bristol theatre students, Edie and Millie, in May 2025. After the success of our first production, ‘Take Care’ at The Alma Tavern Theatre in October 2025 we continued telling less heard stories, moving our focus from a care home to a doctor’s surgery for 'In Hysterics' at The Wardrobe Theatre in March 2026. We are now so excited to return to 'Take Care', make it even better than before, and take it to Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026!
Guided by Millie's experiences of working in a care home, 'Take Care' follows Lilian, Richard, Cassandra, Chloe, Aidan and William as they navigate New Year’s Day working in a care home for adults with learning disabilities. While the rest of the world celebrates, they remain on shift, taking care of those who rely on them. Amid outings, new arrivals and the unexpected chaos of the day, these carers face fresh starts, mounting responsibilities, and the quiet resilience required to keep going. Thoughtful, funny and profoundly human, Take Care offers an intimate glimpse into the realities of care work – and the people who show up, every single day.
Our cast and production team are made up of a wonderfully talented group of students and if you choose to come to our gig night your money will go towards accommodation for all of us for our week in Edinburgh. This will allow us to share this story, described as 'A bold, beautiful, and brilliant play' (Bristol 24/7), and finding 'profound authenticity and emotional truth' (Epigram) with more people at the Fringe.
We are not affiliated with any societies so really need your help to make this a reality! So please come along to Bristol's coolest underground, live music bar for an evening of incredible music and dancing and help us fundraise all at the same time!
