“Faded Portraits: Writing the Complicated Younger Self” explores how we excavate and narrate our complex and often contradictory young selves. What does it mean to genuinely love our past selves, and also leave room for honest critique? How do we write the joys, sorrows, and discoveries of childhood in ways that feel fresh? How do we safely uncover small unexpected moments from our past to write about?
The workshop will include the sharing of some of Phil’s favorite poems about childhood and adolescence, workshop-wide discussion, guided prompts, writing time, and an optional opportunity to share work in a safe and relaxed setting. Zoom’s auto transcript technology will be available.
