We need affordable arts and culture for the many, not the few at An undisclosed venue in or close to Shirehampton (shared with attendees day before event)
Free but only available to Bristol North West residents.

A event on Saturday 8th November. The event starts at 15:00.

This is the first in a new series of ‘In Conversation with…’ events that Darren Jones MP is running for his constituents in Bristol North West.

Joining Darren to discuss opening up arts and culture opportunities for the many:

* David Sproxton, Co-Founder of Aardman Animations – the animation studio behind Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run, and Morph.

* Elle Placide (also known as Dora the Reporter), Editor of OverDue, a new magazine about Bristol creatives.

* Simon Wales, Chief Executive of the Bristol Beacon.

Music taught Darren discipline, teamwork, and built his confidence, but it requires public funds for children whose parents cannot afford to buy musical instruments and pay for lessons.

Darren says he was fortunate that Portway School in Shirehampton (now known as Oasis Academy Brightstowe) had an excellent school orchestra and, thanks to the Bristol Music Trust, he got help with access to a tenor saxophone, one-on-one tuition, and the ability to take his grades – opportunities that he wouldn't have had without public funding.
