The Man Died dir Awam Amkpa (105 minutes) Nigeria 2024
The Man Died adapts Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka's prison memoir into a powerful story of resistance during Nigeria's civil war. Imprisoned without trial by military forces, Soyinka endures solitary confinement and torture while his determination to fight tyranny only grows stronger. Through flashbacks revealing his activist past, the film shows how he secretly documents his experiences, transforming suffering into clandestine rebellion. A universal testament proving that authentic voices cannot be silenced and the human spirit remains unbreakable.
