Films for solidarity at BASE social center

A event on Thursday 23rd July. The event starts at 18:15.

Join us at BASE social center Easton, for an evening of inspirational and impactful film.

The films-

To Kill a War Machine- a feature-length documentary film about the direct action group Palestine Action made by the film-makers Rainbow Collective. It blends first-person archival footage shot by activists on their raids on arms factories and other companies linked to the Gaza genocide such as Elbit Systems with testimony from those activists and people close to them.

AN ARTIST RESPONDS TO WAR- a vibrant portrait of Peter Schumann, the visionary founder of the Bread & Puppet Theater, whose six decades of radical political performance have been forged from a single, searing childhood question: how do we as humans respond to the madness of war and violence?

Drawing on originally shot footage and a remarkable archive of spanning more than 40 years, film director Robbie Leppzer offers an intimate window into the man, his art, and his unbroken faith that creativity can stand against the brutality of power.

In an age desperate for hopeful figures of cultural resistance, AN ARTIST RESPONDS TO WAR is a testament to the radical, enduring idea that art is not a retreat from the world — it is a way of fighting for it.

The event-

Doors open at 6pm and the first screening starts at 6.20pm.There will be a 15 minute interval between films. Teas, cakes and light snacks for sale in the cafe.

Let the actions of these brave activists and artists encourage and inspire us to take creative action on our own door steps.

Any money raised will be split and used to cover the screening costs of an artist response to war and donated to a family in Gaza.

Viva la revolution.
