It has simply moved underground. As the sun sets on Carnival in the Undergrowth, the creatures descend into the city.

Join us at Basement 45 for the official afterparty to continue (or start) the celebration beneath the streets of Bristol.

Expect an eclectic journey through , self-designed synths, leftfield electronic music and a very eclectic and bouncy dancefloor. From radical noises to bass-driven, booty shakers rythms, the night will move between the mysterious, the rhytmic, playful and the ecstatic.

Featuring live electronics from Isn’tses , DJ sets from Moli , Lupa and Jorgia Wiva, plus interactive art from Pneumatek.

Our carnival this year honours creatures that blur boundaries - mythical beasts, hybrid beings, and animals whose lives defy fixed categories and gender conventions gender conventions. From the fluid flailing of the clownfish, to the writhing whiptails, the slime sodden snails, fungal fruiting and dancing dreambirds, intersex icons and gender revolutionaries, we take inspiration from nature’s endless imagination and the shapeshifting folklore that surrounds it. In the Undergrowth, difference is not anomaly : it is abundance.

DRESS CODE - we welcome : SUMMER SPECIES LOVERS Come adorned as your wildest self: beast, bloom, chimera, pollinator, predator, symbiote, swampling, spirit, celestial hybrid, or something entirely unnamed. Come dressed to meet your mates, to meet your 'mate', or to simply slay (Praying Mantis style).

A masquerade affair for curious creatures, nocturnal dancers and lovers of the unexpected.
