Curious about poetry and performance? Intrigued about combining poetry other artforms or even new technology? Meet three Bristolian poets and explore putting something together yourself.

No experience necessary - paper and pens provided

New Dimensions to Poetry

Poetry on the page can be powerful and beautiful, but what happens when you combine words with other art forms? In this session you will look at combining poetry with image, music and sound. Bring something to write on, a smart phone, and an open mind!

Professor Lucy English from Bath Spa University. Lucy's latest project The Book of Hours was an interactive poetry film project with 48 poetry films created in collaboration with 27 international film makers. Lucy is a spoken word poet/poetry film creator and writer.

The New Digital Poetries

An introduction to the poetic possibilities offered by online and new media technologies An introduction to new avenues for written and spoken-word poetries in the 21st century. You are invited to bring your own device (laptop/smartphone along) for some hands-on experience!

Ralph Hoyte is a Bristol/UK-based soundartist, poet and writer. Hoyte creates interactive spatialised soundscapes (or ‘augmented audioscapes’) either as a solo artist or with his 3-man artists’ collective, Satsymph. He also writes epic poems and creates sculptural poetry

This workshop is part of A Series of Talented Events, aimed at 18-23 year olds and organised by Friends of Bishopston Library and thanks to the Library Innovation Fund
