held at Bookhaus
on Friday 15th July. The event starts at 19:00.
Join us for a panel discussion on Socialist Literature in 21st Century Britain with three exciting writers. What is it like to be a poet or novelist with Socialist politics, writing explicitly political work today? Tickets include a glass of wine/soft drink and £2 off Yara’s, Holly’s and Keiran’s book.
Yara Rodrigues Fowler grew up in South London. Yara’s second novel, there are more things, was published in April 2022 and recently nominated for the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction 2022. Yara is also a part time climate justice organiser. Keiran Goddard was born and raised in Shard End, Birmingham. He is the author of a number of academic articles, speaks internationally on issues relating to social change, is a policy fellow at the University of Cambridge and currently runs a think tank. Hourglass is his first novel. Holly Pester began writing poetry when she was a receptionist in her early twenties, ‘and would do anything to make the time go by’. She went on from there to the East London experimental art and poetry scene. Her debut collection Comic Timing is described as “Poetry against landlords”.
