Beyond Bristol Again is the third in Robin Tetlow’s hugely popular series of pocket-sized adventures, describing the most beautiful and interesting country walks within easy reach of the city.
Condensed from over 35 years’ exploring, Beyond Bristol Again comprises 24 great and varied walks through the author’s most-loved landscapes on carefully chosen footpaths and tracks. Following in Robin’s footsteps, you will uncover the beauty of the Mendip Hills, the Cotswolds and Wiltshire Downs, the big skies of the Somerset Levels and Severn Estuary and the wooded intimacy of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Here are panoramic views, streams in deep-cut valleys, woodlands and coast, castles and ancient settlements, grand houses and country estates, steam trains and welcoming pubs.
The 24 walks are between 6 and 12 miles long. All are within about an hour’s travel from the city – some being much nearer. Each route is carefully described and tested for accuracy and seasonal variations, and each is marked on an accompanying Ordnance Survey map.
Some walks are easier than others, some are demanding, but there is something for every season, mood and personal fitness. So, whatever the weather, pull on your boots, pop this book in your pocket and get walking. You’ll feel better, fitter, and stronger.
Robin will be in conversation with Stephen Chalke. Tickets cost £5 and include a glass of wine or a soft drink.
