See event details

A event held at Bookhaus on Wednesday 30th August. The event starts at 18:00.

Join us for the Bristol launch of two astonishing, unnerving debut novels.

Verge by Nadia Attia:

The day Rowena Murray was born, 250 starlings fell like stones from the sky. Ever since, she has been marked by Death. First the visions; then her boyfriend died suddenly; now her father, too.

Nadia Attia is a BFI Network Talent Executive and a published journalist. In 2019 she won the FAB (Faber) prize for fiction and was selected for the London Writers Awards. A graduate of the Curtis Brown novel-writing course, Nadia has been published in Spread the Word’s City of Stories anthology, Star Songs and Luna Station Quarterly.

A Good House For Children by Kate Collins:

In 1976, Lydia moves to Dorset as a nanny for a family grieving their patriarch. She soon starts to hear and feel things that cannot be real, but her bereaved employer does not listen when Lydia tells her something is wrong…

Nadia and Kate will be in conversation at bookhaus to celebrate their novels and revel in the dark magic of folk horror. Tickets cost £5 and include a glass of wine or soft drink and £2 off both books.
