To kick start our 2021 'Worm Gigs' series we present acclaimed pianist and synth wizard, Greg Foat.

Having released 9 albums across the Athens Of The North and Strut labels over the last 4 years, and a string of quality albums on Jazzman prior to that, he is a stand out musician of our times.

Both albums from last year, one with Linkwood and the expansive 'Symphonie Pacifique' on Strut, captured the imagination of discerning music fans....

-------------------------------------------------

Greg's music straddles the line between jazz, classical, cinematic, and contemporary dance sounds with warm embracing grooves, deft arrangements and an undeniable 70's influence. Think Serge Gainsbourg, Zero 7, Jan Hammer, early Stevie Wonder, Nu Yourican Soul etc...

We think Greg is the perfect artist to bring to this stunning setting on The Downs, creating a magical festival-like experience.

"Greg Foat takes jazz to places where genres cease to matter and the music soars for the sake of it." Ian Rankin.

Greg will be joined by a supergroup quartet with their own genre-spanning careers:
Sax: Art Themen. This 81 year old legend of British Jazz music and former Orthepedic surgeon, has played on the British jazz circuit for over 40 years. A rich Tenor sound owing influence to the styles of Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins.

Drums: Morgan Simpson. If you're a 6 Music listener, you will have no doubt come across experimental UK math-punk band, Black Midi. Morgan is their explosive rhythm-bending drummer. A real treat to have such an exciting talent on the pots n pans.

Bass: Phil Achille. An Award-winning multi-instrumentalist, he is a consistent feature on bass on Greg's recent productions. He has also had a distinguished career as a harmonica player, so fingers crossed we get to see a bit of that!!

------------------------------------

This gig will be taking place inside the beautiful new 'Pergola' venue at Breaking Bread on The Downs, Clifton.

Tickets are prices £13.95 pp. Available as 2's, 3's, 4's and 6's. You can choose between two sittings either 5.30pm-8pm or 8.30pm-11pm. There are limited spaces per sitting.
