Cyanotype & Tapestry Making: Remembering & Imagining Eastville park

Join us on September 18th for a collective cyanotype-making workshop - creatively exploring Eastville Park through memory, observation and imagination.

We’ll wander, forage, doodle, explore archival photographs, and dream up possible futures - before bringing these layers together in a collaborative cyanotype tapestry.

Cyanotype making is a photographic sun-printing process where natural cloth is coated with light-sensitive iron salts, exposed to ultraviolet light, and rinsed in water to create a striking Prussian-blue print. No need to have previous experience with cyanotype making and all materials will be provided. Light food will also be provided.

Tickets are completely free and funded by the British Council, as part of their Climate Skills Project. Spaces are limited, so please only book a ticket if you can confirm you will attend the workshop.

Following the workshop, the participant group will gain access to a small amount of seed funding to support them in taking collective action to bring their ideas to life.

This workshop is open to anyone who lives, volunteers, or works, in proximity to Eastville Park. We define this as within 1.5 miles of Eastville Park (equivalent to within approx. 30mins walk on Google Maps). Don’t worry though, this is not an exact science. What’s most important is that you are somehow local to, or feel connected to, Eastville Park. We are especially keen to invite in people across a wide range of generations - from folk in their teens or 20s, to those in their 60s or 70s.
