held at Bristol Beacon
on Friday 15th July. The event starts at 19:30pm.
Venture once again into America’s heartland as the Bristol Americana Weekend returns for its second year. An irresistible line-up of roots and country music will be showcased across Colston Hall, The Lantern and St George’s Bristol, from blues to folk, country to bluegrass, a broad range of acts join together for a weekend of foot-stomping live music.
Topping the bill at Colston Hall, we’re delighted to welcome back Elvis Costello & The Imposters (Sun 17 Jul) for the first time since 2013, who will be romping through the famed singer-songwriter’s eclectic songbook.
Headlining in the main hall on the preceding nights are the legendary Mary Chapin Carpenter (Sat 16 Jul) and Lucinda Williams (Fri 15 Jul) – artists who have notched up eight Grammy Awards between them and who are undoubted icons of American music.
Over at St George’s Bristol meanwhile, The HillBenders present TOMMY: A Bluegrass Opry – their unique tribute to The Who’s seminal album. And in the Lantern, some of the new(er) school – Frazey Ford and Howe Gelb (of Giant Sand) (Sat 16 Jul) bring their unique spins on country-soul and Southern rock respectively, while The White Buffalo (Sun 17 Jul) demonstrates why popular American TV shows like Sons of Anarchy have turned to him time and again to provide the soundtrack.
