A
gig
held at Bristol Beacon
on Friday 23rd March. The event starts at 19:30pm.
Kamaal Williams is the latest project by Henry Wu – the leading talent in a new generation of London jazz artists. Championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, DJ Spinna and Benji B, Wu made waves with releases on EGLO and Rhythm Section before masterminding the short-lived, but critically-acclaimed, Yussef Kamaal.
In his latest incarnation, Wu has teamed up with Josh McKenzie (aka McKnasty) on drums and Pete Martin on bass – an original member of Courtney Pine’s infamous line-up of the 90s. Together, they filter soulful jazz through the grit of a London skyline, with all the raw, live energy that Wu is loved for.
This is a standing show.
