Carl Orff: Carmina Burana. A F at Colston Hall
£10.75 to £21.50 incl. booking fe

A event held at Bristol Beacon on Saturday 15th November. The event starts at 20:00.

Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra, the City of Bristol Choir, Bristol Schools Chamber Choirs, Bristol Grammar School Choirs and Westbury-on-Trym Choir are to give a full-scale performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. With lyrics from the Middle Ages, expressing earthly desires and a lusty enjoyment of life, and pulsating rhythms, full of passion and excitement, this is music of a primeval nature.

The concert also includes a short piece specially composed and performed by the St Peter's Hospice Choir. The Choir started in February 2013 and is open to anyone with any connection to the Hospice. Members include people whose loved ones have been cared for by the Hospice, staff and volunteers.

The brass fanfare of Shostakovich's Festive Overture provides a lively opener and Dvor k's ever-popular Symphony From the New World completes a thoroughly entertaining concert.

Bristol-based Ovation Finance Ltd is sponsoring this concert. They are donating an Ovation guitar as a raffle prize and will be in the foyer on the concert evening. All proceeds from the raffle will go to St Peter's Hospice.
