JOW (cello & trumpet duo) Lunchtime Gig at Bristol Cathedral Chapterhouse.

1:15pm-2pm (doors open 1pm)

JOW is a deliciously uncategorisable acoustic instrumental duo, comprising James Gow on cello and Pete Judge on trumpet. Their music, as featured on BBC Radio 3 and 6Music, blends jazz and improvisation with elements of folk and classical chamber music. Formed in 2021, the duo has quickly established a reputation for unusual music-making, alongside a growing series of unpredictable collaborations. Last autumn they performed beneath Luke Jerram’s “Gaia” installation in the main Cathedral; here’s your chance to catch them in the intimacy of the stunning 12th-century Chapterhouse.

"stately trumpet lines of lament & renewal soar gently above earthy cello sounds and together weave an English landscape" (Music at the World Junction)

“somehow doing so much with so little” (Jazz Stroud)

"there is no ego to this, just musicians playing organic music. They musically lean into each other and then give the other space to find their way. The audience love them" (Bristol 24/7)
