A event on Saturday 25th July. The event starts at 13:00.
Put your paws up and get your claws out! It's time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Josie and the Pussycats with Party Girl Productions.
Adapted from Dan DeCarlo’s 1960s comic-strip creation, Josie and the Pussycats is a candy-coloured satire disguised as a teen pop movie, gleefully taking aim at consumer culture and the music industry. Beneath the glitter and pop songs lies a razor-sharp critique of corporate manipulation and manufactured fame. Rachel Leigh Cook leads the trio with charm, while Parker Posey (THE Party Girl herself!) sinks her claws into every scene as a delightfully deranged villain. The film’s early noughties aesthetic is both a time capsule and a meta-commentary, overflowing with product placement used as punchline. From box-office flop to bopping their way to the top, this classic has stayed in the hearts of everyone’s 2000s’ inner child.
There will be singing, there will be cat ears, and there will be lots and lots of animal print. Come in your Y2K best, show off your animal print and come ready to rock. In classic Party Girl style, there will be call and response during the film.
Come by to the pre-show craft and chat before the film from 13:00 onwards and expect the show to start with an intro by Watershed’s Ella McDonald and a special performance by Brenda Callis brought to you by Party Girl Productions.
