Saoco Collective is a latin jazz group led by pianist/composer Jim Blomfield and playing a dynamic repertoire of original compositions, their arrangements of classic jazz tunes, as well as exploring repertoire from some of the greats of the Afro-Cuban jazz genre such as Ray Barretto, Tito Puente and Chucho Valdes.

A much in demand player, Jim Blomfield has performed at numerous venues and festivals throughout the UK appearing with many different bands and ensembles both in the jazz and latin genres. He has frequently been the pianist of choice to back visiting big name guest soloists past and present (e.g. Andy Sheppard, Barbara Thompson, Pete King, John Etheridge, Roberto Pla
and Henry Fiol to name just a few) and is recognised as one of the UK's finest latin jazz and salsa pianists. His credentials in this field resulted in him becoming the newest member of the internationally acclaimed Afro Cuban band Asere playing his first tour with them in the UK in 2025.

With Jim in the rhythm section are Lisa Cherian on congas and Jon Clark on drums, their dynamic rhythmic chemistry and latin groove having evolved from their collective experiences as being much in demand players in ensembles such as Bristol Salsa Orchestra, K'Chevere, Dockside Latin Orchestra and Buena Bristol Social Club. The rhythm section is completed by the ever inventive bass playing of 'Tosh' Wijetunge who worked with Jim for several years in a piano trio that released two albums of original contemporary jazz compositions.

The band is completed with the horns of brilliant soulful Swiss born saxophonist Martin Kern who worked and recorded extensively in both Berlin and Vienna before moving to the UK, paired with the exuberant excitement and fire of Jonny Bruce on trumpet.

You are invited to a very special night of Afro-Cuban, Salsa and Latin Jazz. Don't miss it.

Tickets are also available at TREBLEROCK Guitar Shop, 52 The Mall in Clifton Village.
