The Grey Area presents: Awkward Corners ---------------- Awkward Corners is the solo music project from DJ, percussionist and writer Chris Menist (Paradise Bangkok, NTS) that began life over a decade ago in Islamabad, where Chris was living at the time. Recordings were made with local musicians in Pakistan and then subsequently in Thailand. This culminated in 'The Sweet Decay' that came out on Finders Keepers’ Disposable Music in 2014, and led to a limited tape release on Boomkat/Reel Torque. Two albums followed : 'Dislocation Songs', and 'Amateur Dramatics' both released on Shapes of Rhythm, that featured collaborations with Sarathy Korwar on tabla, and Tamar Osborn on horns, as well as a series of remixes for the likes of Emanative, Sneaky Jesus and Insolito Universo. ‘The Book Of Imaginary Beings’ came out last year as a long sold out cassette only release, marked by a launch party at Idle Moments in Shoreditch, and subsequent live performances at the acclaimed Wonderfruit festival in Thailand. Mothdrop ---------------- Mothdrop create immersive, surreal soundscapes that drift between ambient intimacy and restless, glitchy electronics. a mix of soft vocal harmonies, granulated textures, and dream-pop melodies. This will be a seated show, with seats given on a first come first served basis on the night.
