The Jonny Halifax Invocation are a shapeshifting
collective of sonic pioneers, defying convention and
transcending boundaries with their esoteric blend of
cosmic blues, free jazz and psychedelia. They are fast
becoming renowned for their mesmerising and joyfully
intoxicating live ‘In The Round’ performances

Becoming a regular feature on BBC 6 Music’s
Marc Riley & Gideon Coe Shows, where they were
recently invited to perform a live session

The Jonny Halifax Invocation’s In The Round
performance draws from ancient folk rituals, circus
traditions,1960s performance art and avant-garde
experimental theatre. The arrangement of instruments
and players are on the floor in the middle of the room,
field, or forest clearing… amongst the audience and
not on a stage. Creating an intense, immersive and
interactive listening experience; part band performance
- part interactive art installation. Welcoming the audience
closer to participate in the shared experience, they circulate
around the centrifugal invocation of sound and light. Band
and audience come together in the transcendental power
of music.

“You’d be forgiven in thinking you’d walked into a
surreal musical version of The Wicker Man. The Jonny
Halifax Invocation’s sounds are absolutely compelling,
with visuals to match. I’m unsure what I saw/heard.
Would definitely go back again to make sure it wasn’t
a fever dream.” Ian Key, www.louderthanwar.com

“I felt like I was in the Mighty Boosh and had gone into the
desert to find a new sound and ended up in Butlin’s, opening
the doors of perception and ending up here. Avant-swamp
blues and kosmic-free jazz ruled this psychedelic
soundscape. Ponchos, cowboy hats, maracas, sax, lap
slide guitars, harmonicas, and bluesy vocals washed
over the crowds who, once they got acclimatised to
their sonic world, were filled with awe and joy. It was
the weirdest part of the weekend.”

Imperceptible Clouds is a full improv collective working
with patience and the interpretation of physics and weather
conditions into music. Their performances unfold as slow,
atmospheric dialogues—tuned to space, air, and shared
presence. With no fixed formation, they explore subtle
forces and materialities through sound. Imperceptible
Clouds have played at the 100 Years Gallery and other
venues in London and Oxford.
