LISA / MONIKA BADLY x DAN JOHNSON / SUPER JENNY x CP / HEBEJEEBIES at Cafe Kino
See event details

A gig held at Cafe Kino on Thursday 4th June. The event starts at 19:30.

A mega Kino offering of artists here who have all had tapes out — or about to be out — on one of the Collapsing labels!

LISA are the London/Tokyo/Berlin collab outfit of Koichi Yamanoha (aka Grimm Grimm) x Anastasia Freygang playing their Bristol debut. Expect hyper-physical, feral beat abstractions. Machined, at times brutal beats, with elastic, near-impossible vocal contortions not in an actual language, just made up sounds — a kind of propulsive EDM hallucination. Here they launch their YAMAHA DOG mini-album on Collapsing Drums

Bristol icons Monika Badly and Dan Johnson perform their roof-tearing live collaboration for the first time since their debut last September. That performance had seismic reactions at Ex Agent's Strange Brew night — and was captured in a nasty-as live recording which is being dropped tonight on sibling label Collapsing Shelf, which dedicates itself to live recordings and DIY experiments.

To open the night, jumbled clattercore vox/tapeloop/trumpet outfit Super Jenny x Caballo Perro will be lobbing egg boxes and jangling keys in a riposte to the perfectionism that some of them may exact in their other projects... or something.

On deck duties Hebe Rusk aka Hebejeebies will be playing tunes — following the March drop of her debut album 'Mixed Effect Model. 'Mixed Effect Model is a gloopy, evasive set of audio microdramas which have a major sound collage element but also, with an outmoded Yamaha keyboard Rusk’s only instrument in the traditionally understood sense, an insular type of hypnagogia...'
