A
event
on Thursday 20th June. The event starts at 19:00.
Hey there! My name is Ali and I am thrilled to welcome you to my evening guitar class and social for adults at the wonderful Clifton Community bookshop!
I have been inseparable from the guitar for nearly twenty years, beginning to learn the instrument when I was seven years of age and studying for eleven years before starting to teach at my first school when I was eighteen. Since then, I have taught at six different schools, become a tutor with Your Guitar Academy and taught dozens of private students between the ages of six to seventy.
Inspired by the joy and sense of community that comes from being a musician, my intention with this class is to create a fun, relaxed learning environment, where you can socialise with fellow guitarists, learn your favourite songs and the key skills required as a musician, as well as provide an ‘agony aunt’ for any of your guitar playing gripes and grudges!
Sessions are held every other Thursday from 7pm - 9pm. All beginner to intermediate players welcome with a minimum of one year’s playing experience suggested. Simply bring an acoustic guitar and enjoy! Please also feel free to join us afterwards for a social drink at The Landsdown pub next door.
Topics and artists covered include improvising, improving strumming and finger picking technique, exploring DADGAD tuning, Nick Drake, John Martyn, The Beatles, Lana Del Rey, Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch, R.E.M and Pearl Jam.
If you are interested in private tuition, please feel free to contact me using the following email: [email protected]
