Art Rats - Linocut at Cloak

A event held at Cloak on Monday 17th June. The event starts at 18:30.

Get your hands inky, explore the world of linocut printmaking and create your own beautiful handmade prints.

We'll go through every step of this fun and versatile printmaking technique, teaching you to carve designs onto linoleum blocks, ink them, and print your creations onto paper.

During this workshop we'll be adding a little extra fun, by focusing on creating repeating patterns and mini themed blocks to stamp on paper and fabric. We will provide some fabric, blank tea towels, possibly some t-shirts as well - bring your own though to be sure! The possibilities are truly endless, and we will supply plenty of references, ideas, and a jar of prompts if you're really stuck.

Of course if you just want to learn the basics of lino and aren't interested in the extra steps, you are more than welcome to do just that! This workshop is great whether you're a complete beginner, consider yourself entirely not creative, or are a little more experienced.

All materials provided, including a variety of lino blocks and multiple colours of ink. You are welcome to bring your own lino (whether it's one you've started and abandoned, or you just have a specific size in mind), and tools if you have them.

No experience necessary, all skill levels welcome.

The workshop runs 6.30-9(ish).

Plus join us (or stay on) afterwards for late night crafting! A wide range of materials will be available, as well as equipment from our creative library - our trusty badge maker, relief printing press, linocut and drypoint tools, jewellery findings etc (a full list is in the works!). Drop us a message beforehand if there's anything specific you're after, and we will make sure we bring it down for you.

Tickets for the workshop are available as Concessions, Standard, and Supporter - we want our workshops to be accessible and affordable to most, but if you can afford to pay more please do so we can cover our costs and keep this project going!

Late night crafting will run on a donation basis - pay what you feel is right for the amount of materials used, time spent, what you can afford.

Our Monday evening workshops are hosted by Cloak! This wonderful community space will be providing drinks & snacks, and an incredibly cosy atmosphere. Sometimes Space Jams will also be running downstairs!

The cafe has no steps and plenty of seating. For any accessibility questions don't hesitate to get in touch.

We have more workshops coming up! To stay up to date follow us on Instagram @artratsbristol, for any enquiries dm us or email [email protected]
