Nile Robinson & The Countrymen ALBUM RELEASE SHOW at Cloak
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Ramshackle alt-country meets freak folk in Nile Robinson & The Countrymen. Imagine if Jeff Tweedy, Bob Dylan and Daniel Johnston started a wonky lo-fi side project- we’re here for it. Big FFO: Kurt Vile, Alex G, The Tallest Man On Earth, Diane Cluck, Michael Hurley."

A gig held at Cloak on Saturday 24th August. The event starts at 20:00.

'Dark Road Nowhere' is the first studio album by Nile Robinson and shall be released in conjuncture with this profound ragged spectre of a programme -

Featuring support from the virgin mary of Folke Music; Willow Xena and the tender monomaniacal expositions of Myer U Clark! really two of the most precious n excellent acts in Bristol n - to me - moving, deeply moving in the blood n the spirit. I'd swim rivers of fire to hear any one of their voices just one last time. But what about you... will you make peace with The Crows? will you Make a Bet when you say his name? I know I will

This is a special occasion, We have a WWII Naval Soldier as host, we have two projectors throwin out parallel visions of Patsy Cline & Howlin' Wolf into the deep shadows of Bristol's Cloak. We have 1/20 locally handprinted official Countrymen T-shirts for sale. We have posters for sale. And we have CDs of the new album which I'm so very proud of N include's such records as Marfa, TX // He Who Dies in Bethlehem // The Street is too Silent for Goodbyes // ARE YOU READY FOR WAR??!?!?!???

We will be playing the album in it's entirety featuring the banjo of Tyler Tuncer, the fiddle of Jake Marmot, the trumpet of Dylan Evans. N then maybe doin a few hits, struck unbound, black breeze... who knows what could happen. fate n destiny n fate n destiny n fate oh n destiny n fate too

So leave the ungraspable phantom of life alone in your room for an evening N come see a show, I assure you he'll still be there when you get back. Your heart is gonna break anyway, we'll do it with mercy...
