Essential Sessions - Shaolin Sound at Cosies
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Essential by name, essential by nature, these Sessions are bringing world-class dub back to the hallowed Cosies cellars. Shaolin Sound’s one of those go-to imprints to silence those ‘they don’t make em like they used to’ naysayers, drawing on the mighty powers of Sugar Minott, Vin Gordon and Prince Jamo to cut some of the most authentic digi roots and Studio One sounds of the last decade. Rootical greatness guaranteed!"

A clubnight held at Cosies on Saturday 13th June. The event starts at 22:00.

After a roadblock weekend of events on Stokes Croft, we are excited to announce our next Essential Sessions!

Shaolin Sound aka Daniel Tuffs, is part of the new wave of Roots & Rubadub selectas. An enthusiastic crate digger, aiming to explore the forgotten sounds of Reggae music from Jamaica, UK, Europe and Worldwide. Shaolin also writes, produces and collaborates with singers and musicians from around the world, releasing music on vinyl in limited and full quantities. Here he looks to explore the music that inspires him the most.

Collaborating with a wide ranging list of some of the best reggae artists...Awa Fall, Pad Anthony, Mikey General, Tony Rebel, Luciano, Sugar Minott and Earl Sixteen to name a few.

For over a decade Shaolin Sound has been rediscovering overlooked records and creating new reggae fusions, with emphasis on experimentation and cross-genre fusion, while maintaining politically conscious and positive lyrical themes.

We are hyped to see what Shaolin Sound has in the bag for this one!
