We all loved this Cotham Club night in October and Alphonse Duadet Touna is bringing Helele back for a New Year's Eve special at Cotham Club!
Inspired by the rhythms of the Bantu Forest of West Africa, Alphonse Daudet Touna from Cameroon formed Helele to ‘enrich and share his music with the world.’ The haunting vocals, sung in his own tribal language ‘Bassa’, send messages of peace and hope. With influences from Makossa to Bikutsi – the grooves are guaranteed to exhilarate audiences and our October audience LOVED THIS: “Brilliant!” “Fantastic!” “Amazing!” “Absolutely Fab!” “Brilliant Boogie!” “Excellent Vibes!” are just some of the comments left by audience members.
The band – comprising guitarist Neil Smith (This Is The Kit), saxophonist Dino Christodoulou (Milon), kit drummer Greg White (recorded at Abbey Road), bassist Ron Phelan (tours internationally regularly) – has headlined at festivals and major venues across the UK and supported well known artists such as Eliades Ochoa of the Buena Vista Social Club. Performances include Glastonbury, Shambala, Marlborough Jazz Festival and London’s South Bank Centre.
