COTHAM CLUB
BRISTOL

THE
ZAID HILAL
BAND

Spellbinding Palestinian folk-pop-beyond.

-

POWERFULLY IMAGINATIVE MUSIC WITH A MESSAGE, MARKED BY EMOTIVE BALLADRY AND PASSIONATE DANCEFLOOR ANTHEMS, IS SHOT THROUGH WITH FLAVOURS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST.

-

Palestine is a beautiful ancient land of faith with a uniquely troubled history. Zaid Hilal - from Beit Sahour in the occupied West Bank - is a bright light in Palestinian and Arabic music, using rich folk-pop as a powerful tool to address the past, preserve his heritage and tell the stories of his people in new and compelling ways.

A hugely gifted singer and a mesmerising exponent of the traditional long-necked lute, the bağlama, Zaid's live shows are infectious cultural celebrations. His last, rapturously received UK tour left everyone fortunate enough to witness it completely awestruck.

In a dark time when community is an essential balm, Zaid and his thrilling international band bring forth joyous sounds. Mingling heritage songs and modern compositions, they shift moods exquisitely: from reflective, timelessly beautiful ballads that resonate with meaning to full-throttle dance tunes pulsating with vitality. Just superb.
