THE ROB LEAR BAND

A glorious set of catchy country-tinged Cymru-folk-Americana with a punchy pop drive.

-

MELODICALLY INFECTIOUS MUSIC RANGING ACROSS THE AMERICANA SPECTRUM; STRIKINGLY HOOKY, LYRICALLY ARRESTING, AND ACHINGLY LOVELY.

-

Rob Lear: vocals/guitar/ukulele
Terry Payne: guitar/mandolin
Tom Long: bass guitar/percussion
Liz Mullins: accordion/percussion/vocals

-

From his base in the Welsh valleys, singer-songwriter Rob Lear has for years showcased his exquisite craft, a wonderfully classy offering that bridges rolling Cymru-folk-Americana, acoustica, country music, and a touch of joyous spun-sugar pop to superb, earwormy effect.

The heart of the show is the rare depth and beauty of Lear's songwriting, critically akin to Neil Finn (Crowded House), Lindsay Buckingham and Richard Thompson, supported by his sweet, evocative tenor vocals and charming presence, and the brilliance of his eclectic band of musicians.

Gentle nostalgia and sad-edged introspection is delivered with an upbeat, easy-on-the-ear swing that spreads harmonic happiness and brings those sitting to their feet and cutting the rug.

'Sung from the heart, warm and melodic.'
BBC Radio 1 'Rock Show'

'A formidable force... skillful ability to write likeable, catchy and bouncy tunes that make you sit up and smile and want to hum along.'
Plugged In Magazine

'One of this country's finest songwriters.'
