‘By the pricking of my thumbs,

something wicked this way comes.’

In collaboration with the Churches' Conservation Trust Troubadour Stageworks returns with a classic tale of sedition, murder and witchcraft. Homeward bound heroes Macbeth and Banquo encounter three witches who prophesy that Macbeth will become King of Scotland. Upon the urging of his wife Macbeth murders King Duncan, unleashing a brutal cycle of bloodshed, paranoia and guilt, as the couple do whatever is needed to cling to the crown.

Macbeth will be performed in a venue unlike any other. St. John on the Wall is part of the very fabric of Bristol: it was built into the city wall in the fourteenth century as a place for travellers to offer prayers before a journey. St John's crypts provide an intimate, intense and unique performance space steeped in heritage and located in the heart of Bristol, both geographically and historically.

This promises to truly be a performance not to miss.

'Come, thick night,

And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell,

To cry, "Hold, hold!"
