An event on Thursday 3rd December. The event starts at 08:15.
Can we really translate the work of a dead author faithfully? Is that even the goal?
In this workshop, participants will have the chance to consider the position and role of the translator when there is no author to turn to with questions. They will be guided through a translation from Italian using a gloss and they will be invited to consider how their own life and perceptions can factor into their work.
This thoughtful and creative workshop will appeal to anybody with an interest in translated literature.
Remember, it is the living and not the dead that do the writing.
This workshop is part of the Translators' House residency at East Bristol Books and follows the release of Angus' chapbook *Presence*, the inspiration for this workshop.
