A
gig
held at Exchange
on Saturday 24th November. The event starts at 23:00.
Worm Disco Club bring you some late night Saturday Jazz with a rising talent of the new UK jazz movement.
Joe Armon-Jones and his band will playing a 1.5 hr set here in Bristol for the first time as part of his "Starting Today" tour - named after his brilliant debut album that was released on Brownswood earlier this year.
An album of varying grooves and flavours, it's been one that we have re-visited a lot over the last six months, with several tunes that we can't put down.
Joe has curated a sound that has bags of groove & soul, cool casual swagger and top quality playing, alongside some great guest vocal performances... we echo the sentiments of some that this could have, and probably should have been in the Mercury Prize list.
As co-founder of the brilliant Ezra Collective, people already familiar with this band will be well aware of Joe's skills, and he is also one quarter of Nubya Garcia's band.
If you like the music of Herbie Hancock or are a fan of Kamaal Williams aka Henry Wu, then you should get to know!
Please note; this a late night gig. You can rock up after you've had dinner with your parents, done your ironing, finished work or been at the pub ; )
Doors will be 11pm with Worm Disco Club DJ's hanging out and playing records in the bar. Main room opens at midnight, with stage time 12.30. 1.5 hr set! x
Advance tickets are £10 (first release) and £12.50 from Headfirst, Resident Advisor, Bristol Ticket Shop and The Exchange website.
